  1. (military) a mandatory military call-up and training of between one to two weeks which all NSMen have to attend annually until their ROD, which is usually after ten (or more) cycles of call-ups. Due to these obligations, Singaporean males are not permitted to leave the country for more than 6 months without an exit permit until they are released from this duty.
  2. No one says it out loud, but it’s an open secret that many bosses discriminate against hiring male Singaporeans because of their ICT obligations.
