Detailed etymology
definitions
noun
- a cocktail made from gin and cherry liqueur, and sometimes other fruit-based ingredients such as pineapple juice or lime juice as well. It was invented in or before 1915 by the Hainanese bartender Ngiam Tong Boon in the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel, Singapore.
I did some pretty obvious tourist things, such as having a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel - which was fun.

usage notes
The original 1915 recipe is either not known or not made public by the Long Bar, and so the drink is made with many very different recipes around the world.
