ketupat
Detailed etymology
definitions
noun
- a traditional Malay dumpling of compressed rice wrapped and cooked in a square, pillow-shaped pouch of woven palm leaves (though modern versions may use plastic pouches instead). It is usually served by unwrapping the resulting dumpling and then cubing it into bite-sized pieces. It is eaten as an accompaniment to or ingredient of other dishes, such as satay or lontong, and is also associated with Malay cultural festivals, especially Hari Raya Puasa.
There will also be one-site workshop sessions to learn ketupat weaving, Jawi calligaphy as well as cooking demonstrations.
