  1. an Indian snack made of deep-fried twisted pieces or sticks of rice and urad dal flour, seasoned with a mixture of spices. The pieces are made by extruding dough through a patterned die into a boiling pot of oil, and may come in various shapes, sizes, and flavours.
  2. Murukku holds a special place in the hearts of most Indians, it is made out of rice and urad dhal flour, water, salt, asafoetida and cumin seeds. It is then deep-fried into spiral, twisted shapes either using one's hand or a murukku mould.
