1. any of several edible species of beans in the genus Parkia, most commonly P. speciosa (also known as the stink bean) but also e.g. P. javanica or P. singularis. When used as a culinary ingredient, they are known for their strong smell and flavour, and as such are often paired with other strong-smelling foods such as sambal belacan.
