* Singlish is a largely spoken creole, and as such descriptivism (recording forms that reflect actual pronunciation in spoken language, or as appearing in the linguistic corpus) is more pertinent than strict prescriptivism. Nevertheless, the use of more standard forms (or for words originating in languages with Latin script, such as Malay, accurate to the original spelling) is recommended and encouraged.

noun

  1. tea with milk and sugar that is frothed by pouring it back and forth between two mugs from a height, which causes the appearance of a stream of tea being “pulled” from the mugs. The action of “pulling” the tea is often done with much spectacle and flourish, which has helped popularise it as a novelty overseas in places such as Taiwan.
