  1. any plant of the genus Syzygium or its edible fruit, but most commonly Syzygium aqueum,[1] which bears pear-shaped fruits around 5 - 8 cm in length which transition from pale green to red as they ripen. The fruits have a tart, mild taste, and are commonly eaten as they are or as an ingredient in rojak.
