noun

  1. a baked Chinese pastry consisting of a soft, tender skin with a sweet filling typically made of lotus seed paste (or sometimes red bean or green bean paste), usually pressed using a mold to form a round shape decorated with patterns and words. The filling may also contain other ingredients, such as salted egg yolks and crushed nuts, or in modern times novelty flavourings such as durian or lychee. They are traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and have also been commercialized into expensive, luxury business gifts in Singapore.

usage notes

Not exclusive to Singaporean English, but listed here as it is a component in a few other terms.
