Detailed etymology
definitions
noun
- the tree Artocarpus heterophyllus or its edible fruit, both also known as the jackfruit, a species bearing extremely large fruits with a bumpy green skin and segmented flesh. Each segment of the fruit consists of sweet, stringy yellow flesh surrounding a large seed. It is closely related to the cempedak (A. integer), and more distantly the durian.
I enjoyed the exotic sayur nangka lemak ... The jackfruit is tenderly stewed in its own lemak sauce and is an exquisite vegetable accompaniment.
